'Wonderful' Olympic Studios wins six-figure grant

The stunning Olympic Studios in Barnes has received a grant close to half a million pounds.

The upmarket cinema is currently closed but selling takeaway coffee, pastries and freshly made sandwiches at its cafe.

Richmond Park MP Sarah Olney said it was a "wonderful local business".

"The British Film Institute has awarded £472,145 in funding from the Government's Culture Recovery Fund to the Olympic Cinema in Barnes, to enable the venue to survive during this uncertain period, and allow them to reopen eventually, to continue to serve the local community and beyond.

"I am delighted that this wonderful local business has received this boost."

The studios said: "The grant will enable the Olympic to continue connecting the community to much needed cultural entertainment and operating as a hub for everyone to enjoy ðŸ¿.

"Wishing everyone a wonderful New Year and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2021!"
